CSSA E-mail List

Introduction

E-mail list is a popular and convenient mean to exchange information with others using e-mail. Usually, an e-mail list provides two distinct e-mail addresses: one for subscription/unsubscription purpose and the other for publishing information purpose. In order to subscribe/unsubscribe to an e-mail list, you need to send a formatted e-mail to the first e-mail address of the list. After subscription, you can send e-mail to the second e-mail address of the list. Your e-mail to the second e-mail address will be delivered to all subscribers of the list, and all e-mail sent to the list will be forwarded to your mailbox as well. E-mail list is one of the primary communication method among CSSA members.

How to subscribe/unsubscribe

In order to subscribe the CSSA email list, please send email from your desired subscription e-mail address to sympa@ucdavis.edu .

Subscribing to mailing lists

Subscribing to a mailing list is very simple:

  1. Send a message to sympa@ucdavis.edu from the email address you want to subscribe to the list.
  2. In the subject line of your message, type in: subscribe cssfucd Firstname Name (replace 'Firstname Name' by your own first name and name).
  3. Leave the message body blank.

Unsubscribing from lists

To unsubscribe from a list, do as follows:

  1. From the address with which you subscribed to the list, send a message to sympa@ucdavis.edu.
  2. In the subject line of your email, type in: unsubscribe cssfucd
  3. Leave the message body blank.

Please note:
      You must turn off HTML or Rich-Text format of your e-mail. Otherwise the e-mail list server will not recognize your requests.

How to send email to the list

After join CSSA e-mail list, you can send e-mail to the e-mail list via this address: cssfucd@ucdavis.edu. Please notice that this e-mail address is different from the above subscription/unsubscription address! Remember, your e-mail to it will be delivered to all subscribers. Please do not abuse it!

Mail list archive

UC Davis students and scholars can access the archives of CSSA e-mail list online. To do so, you need to privide your UC Davis (Kerberos) account name and password (Which also means, if you are not UC Davis student or scholar, you cannot access them. But do not worry, we have provided another method to access the archives. See below for details). The address of the archives is as follows:

From August 2005, CSSA begins to provides its own archives of mailing list online. You can access them at the following address:

From May 2008, CSSA mailing list archives have been changed to the following URL:
